We tested the Oker Hill walk today and loved it! My three year old embraced the 'mountain' climb, and enjoyed stopping to see what she could see. She particularly enjoyed sitting on top of the OS triangulation point stone and declaring that she was on top of the world. The sycamore tree was a great little stop; Ada was thrilled to discover the treasures and took her time in deciding what to put in and what to take out. We also added a message in the little book. The woods were a fun starting point. I'm guessing the local primary school hold Forest School sessions there because there were lots of lovely woodland crafty things to look at. The instructions were very clear and easy to follow. The gradient of the hill combined with this morning's rainfall made it a tad slippery in places, but we all had wellies on, so it only added to the mini adventure. It was an ideal little walk to give us a blast of fresh air after lunch. It's great for a quick walk as there are a few lay-bys to choose from, as well as street parking down by the school.

We visited Straws Bridge today with a 2 year old and a baby in the pushchair. It was really handy having a brief description of the walk regarding pushchair friendly routes and parking. When we were ready to go it was great being able to get in the car and having the sat nav postcode ready. The location was really beautiful and seeing the swans and geese was fun for my toddler. We found lots of blackberries, raspberries, acorns and mushrooms, and spotted lots of wildlife, a great spot for a scavenger hunt! This walk is quite versatile, in that you can stick to smoother paths or rougher terrain, take a casual stroll round the lake or a longer walk depending what suits you. There’s a nice spot by the lake with some picnic tables as well, we’ll definitely be returning with a picnic!

We had a lovely walk today doing the Cromford Hills/Bow Woods walk. We're extremely familiar with this area, but had never done this walk before so it was good to try something new. We enjoyed Bow Woods and Ada, who's three, walked the entire way and fully embraced the hills! There was a lot to look at and talk about, plenty of mud to squelch in, and a wealth of places to stop for (very many) snacks.

Today we went on another Boom ramble that we agreed to try out. A slightly longer one this time but a great walk with some fantastic views. A very exciting tunnel to walk through, a wonderful ice cream break with a stunning view and the promise of a great playground at the end of the walk, which kept little legs marching on to find it.

We did the Melbourne Pool walk. We took our 10 month old in the carrier but went without our four year old. We really enjoyed it - it's a really pretty walk and our baby really enjoyed feeding the ducks. We will definitely do this again as our 4 year old would love it - perfect distance for little legs, lots of low planes to watch, a huge tree for conker picking, woods to hide in and streams to walk through. It was easy to find and park and we enjoyed lunch and a cake outside the tearooms after. It was pretty muddy so would definitely agree with the wellies and walking boots suggestion! Thanks Boom! We had a lovely morning.

I did the Cromford walk with my two boys, the instructions were very easy to follow and we all had a great time. Inside the woods was a little muddy I imagine welly boots will definitely be needed in the winter! Lots of little things along the walk to keep the kids entertained and a bonus of an ice cream break at the high peak junction or Cromford Canal car park is good. Thanks.
