A is for Apple is a familiar phrase to most people, but following that first sentence is a discovery of fruit and vegetables which is novel and fun. It’s an A to Z introduction of this healthy class of food, with some pretty well-known, but also some less-known, varieties. I think is appeals to children, not only of pre-school age, but of school age, even infants and adults!

I really love this book, the colours, the graphics. I feel it’s very engaging, which is important for children. I liked the range of foods covered including less commonly known ones, and most of all I liked the descriptions for each food. Overall I feel a child would be able to grasp what their parents teach them with this book and it’s a nice conversation opener.

My daughter is autistic and trying new food can be a real challenge. ‘A is for Apple’ really helped me introduce new food in a non-scary way. She loved the little mushroom character, and the text is great for her to read too! She is now a bit obsessed with broccoli - but that’s good right?

When you hear your kids reading to each other and laughing about haricot beans… you know it’s no ordinary book! Beautifully done, this book is fun and engaging for parents and children alike. The A to Z of fruit and vegetables stimulates fun, relaxed conversations, as well as encouraging tips at the end for dealing with ‘fussy eating’. A book we will be keeping on the kitchen table!
